Soundview of Northeast and other parts of Tacoma shut out the Southeast Region champion team from Alabama by a 2-0 score Wednesday to open Little League World Series play.
The team will stay in Williamsport, Penn. to take on the Southwest Region champions in its second game scheduled for noon Friday.
The Soundview team goes into the tournament as the Northwest Region and Washington state champions after winning the District 10 title to open all-star baseball action for ages 10-12.
Included on the team is Tyler Landry, whose father Mark played for the Federal Way High School and Legion teams.
