Eagle boys upend Lions, 49-41

By Tim Clinton

Federal Way knocked off Auburn Mountainview on the Lions' home floor for the second time this season Saturday to stay alive in the state Class 3A boys basketball tournament.

This time the Eagles emerged as a 49-41 winner over the North Puget Sound League's 3A regular season champions.

Federal Way entered state as the No. 14 seed and the Lions as the No. 11, but it will be the Eagles advancing to the final 12 tournament at the Tacoma Dome as Auburn Mountainview stays home.

Federal Way plays another loser-out game at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the dome, with the winner going on to Thursday's state quarterfinals.

The Eagles will be pitted against the loser of a late Saturday game between No. 3-seeded Garfield of Seattle and Lincoln of Tacoma.
