Pairings out for state football

By Tim Clinton

Decatur and Federal Way both plunge into the state Class 3A football playoffs this week after posting victories this past weekend.

The Decatur Gators received a No. 7 state ranking from the seeding committee and as such will host the No. 10 Mount Tahoma Thunderbirds of Tacoma for a 7 p.m. Friday opener at Federal Way Memorial.

Federal Way was seeded No. 12 and will open on the road against the No. 5 Roosevelt Roughriders of Seattle.

The action is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Seattle Memorial

Decatur carries a 10-0 overall record into Friday's contest while the Eagles have an 8-2 mark going into Saturday's game.

The Gators advanced by posting a 39-29 home victory over Blanchet of Seattle last Friday in a multi-district game.

Federal Way was a 38-10 winner at home Saturday over Ferndale in its playoff.

Todd Beamer, meanwhile, found itself in a non-playoff crossover game Thursday and took a 49-6 defeat at Central Kitsap in Silverdale.

The Titans finished with a 4-5 overall record.

Thomas Jefferson also faced a non-playoff crossover game to end its season.

The Raiders absorbed a 47-0 road loss to Auburn-Riverside last Wednesday to finish 1-9 overall.
