Federal Way finds itself in a situation where it will play at least one boys basketball game in the Tacoma Dome next week, while Todd Beamer must win two loser-out games to get that far.
The good news for the Titans is their state Class 3A tournament road starts off with a game in their own gymnasium.
They will host Ridgeline for a 6 p.m. Tuesday opening round game.
Todd Beamer is the No. 13 state seed and Ridgeline is the No. 20
Tuesday's winner visits No. 12 Mount Vernon at 8 p.m. Saturday for another loser-out game. Saturday's winner plays at the Tacoma Dome in another loser-out game the following Wednesday.
While the Titans face a long road, the Eagles face a long trip.
They go directly to a 6 p.m. Friday game at Central Valley of Spokane against Gonzaga Prep.
Federal Way is the No. 6 Class 4A state seed and Gonzaga the No. 3.
Friday's winner advances directly to a 7:15 p.m. state quarterfinal the following Thursday at the Tacoma Dome.
Friday's loser also goes to the Tacoma Dome, but must open with a 3:45 p.m. Wednesday loser-out game.
Both Federal Way and Todd Beamer had their third place district games not played last Saturday.
Federal Way was to play Olympia and Todd Beamer was to play Kelso, but the games were optional since both teams in each had already made state.
