Boys basketball

Todd Beamer 63, Ridgeline 57

Todd Beamer trimmed Ridgeline by a 63-57 score Tuesday to open state Class 3A tournament play.

The Titans, who were seeded No. 13 going into the tournament while Ridgeline was seeded No. 20, now must visit No. 12 Mount Vernon at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The winner advances to play in the Tacoma Dome next Wednesday and the loser is out.

Boys swimming

Class 4A state meet

Andrew Miller of Federal Way topped the local field at the state championship meet Saturday, taking 12th place in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2 minutes, 1.49 seconds.

Dean Tucker of Decatur finished 14th in the 500 freestyle with a 4:59.12 effort and Federal Way's Brandon Lo came in 15th in the 50 free in 22.58.

Miller placed 18th in the 100 backstroke in 55.17.

Class 3A state meet

Ethan Tandio of Todd Beamer snagged 16th place in the state 100 butterfly Saturday with a time of 55.19.

Chan Park took 21st for Thomas Jefferson in the 200 individual medley in 2:10.24 and 24th in the 100 fly in 57.12.

Todd Beamer's 200 medley relay team placed 22nd in a time of 1:49.59 with Kaleb Pak, Andrew Nguyen, Tandio and Thomas Sinn.
