Boys basketball

Federal Way 54, Puyallup 43
The Eagles clawed their way past the Vikings to open District 3/4 Class 4A tournament play Saturday.
Federal Way found itself playing in the Puyallup gymnasium, with the Vikings coming in as the South Puget Sound League champions and the Eagles as the North Puget Sound League No. 2 team.
Federal Way will be in its own gymnasium for the District 3/4 semifinals at 5 p.m. Thursday against Tahoma.
The Eagles split two games with the Bears during the regular season and tied them for first place, so Thursday's game will be the rubber game of the series.

Todd Beamer 58, Stadium 55
Todd Beamer took its Class 3A District 3/4 opener Saturday at Stadium of Tacoma.
Stadium was the top 3A SPSL finisher while the Titans took second to Auburn in the NPSL for 3A.
Todd Beamer gets a third shot at Auburn in a district semifinal Thursday.  The Titans meet the Trojans at 7 p.m. in the Mount Tahoma gymnasium in Tacoma.
