Tuputala making plays for UW
Federal Way graduate AlphonzoTuputala is racking up some positive early season defensive statistics for the University of Washington football team as a linebacker.
After opening with one tackle and two assists in a 56-19 win over Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 2 he came through with one tackle and three assists in a 41-7 victory over Michigan State Saturday, Sept. 9.
Tuputala exploded for three tackles and two assists as the Huskies dealt Tulsa a 43-10 defeat this past Saturday.
Brigham sticks with Mets
Thomas Jefferson graduate Jeff Brigham is still in the bullpen late in the season for the New York Mets, posting a 1-2 record with a 5.25 earned run average for the overall season in 36 innings over 36 appearances.
Junk now 7-10 for Sounds
Decatur graduate Janson Junk now has a 7-10, 4.20 record for the Class AAA Nashville Sounds of the Milwaukee Brewers organization, striking out 92 opponents in 137 innings pitched.
Still scores goal for Huskies
Thomas Jefferson's Hailey Still has connected for one goal so far for the University of Washington women's soccer team.
Still is a senior forward.
Locke records pair of shutouts
Todd Beamer graduate Brandon Locke has earned two shutouts as the starting goalie for the Western Washington University men's soccer team.
Locke, a senior, has recorded 15 saves for the Vikings of Bellingham.
Kimura with St. Martin's team
Federal Way graduate Rachel Kimura is a redshirt junior forward for the St. Martin's University women's soccer team in Lacey but is currently sidelined by an injury.
Searles assists with goalies
Federal Way resident Stephen Searles is serving as an assistant coach for the St. Martin's University women's soccer team, working with the goalkeepers.
