Summer collegiate
Rustic Mel Olson Stadium at Steve Cox Memorial Park in White Center provides the setting for summer collegiate baseball with a minor league flavor.
The Dub Sea Fish Sticks, formerly known as the Highline Bears, have called the wooden structure home since 2015.
The team took second place in its league behind the Seattle Studs last summer.
"The team looks good," said general manager Justin Moser. "We have players from 25 schools including five Division 1 players."
But unless you already have a ticket you are not getting in to see the Fish Sticks' 6:35 p.m. Saturday season opener against a team called the Gumbaroos.
"We sold out for the first time in franchise history," said Moser, a graduate of Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines. "It's been a long time goal and we finally got it."
That leaves a 7:05 p.m. game against the Honkers on Friday, June 9 as the first opportunity to buy a ticket to a home game.
