Federal Way High School broke down the door to state in both baseball and boys soccer Saturday.
The Eagle baseball team earned its way into next weekend's state Class 4A Regional playoffs by beating host Rogers of Puyallup in a Saturday morning game by a 5-2 score.
The Eagle boys soccer team took the field that afternoon at nearby Franklin Pierce Stadium in Parkland and came away with a 2-1 victory over Olympia.
The soccer was a loser-out game, while the baseball team was in a situation where it needed to lose twice to miss state.
Rogers went on to claim the second baseball berth that was available by dealing Kennedy Catholic an 11-0 defeat Saturday evening.
Kennedy Catholic lost its first game to Camas by an 8-4 score early Saturday afternoon.
Both Federal Way teams must now wait to see who, when and where they play next. State draws will be announced early this week.
The soccer team opens state this Tuesday or Wednesday, with the state quarterfinals awaiting the winner on Friday or Saturday.
Federal Way will likely play next on Saturday in baseball in need of two straight regional wins to make the state final four the following weekend.
