Soundview teams fall short

Both the Soundview age 8-10 all-star Little League baseball and softball teams saw their seasons end just shy of District 10 championship play with losses Wednesday.

The softball team from Northeast Tacoma was outscored by Bonney Lake/Sumner, 8-6, and the baseball team fell to South Hill of Puyallup, 12-8.

South Hill edged the softball team, 14-13, in Sunday's opener played at the Real Life Church field in Covington but Soundview came back to beat Kent by an 11-1 score Monday and to edge past Chinook of Enumclaw, 2-1, Tuesday.

Bonney Lake/Sumner defeated the baseball team, 6-3, in Saturday's opener and Soundview rebounded for a 14-7 victory over tournament host Federal Way National on Monday.

Soundview defeated Kent in Tuesday action, 6-0.

Federal Way National fell to South Hill by an 8-6 score in its opener Sunday.

Steel Lake of the east side of the Federal Way area was blanked, 10-0, by South Hill in its opener Saturday before being topped Sunday by Auburn, 8-5.

In softball the combined Federal Way National and Steel Lake team took a 22-7 opening loss Saturday against Bonney Lake/Sumner and a 24-9 loss Sunday to Kent.

The District 10 tournaments are now completed, but Soundview advances to the state age 9-11 baseball tournament opening Saturday, July 11 in Lynnwood and to the Majors age 10-12 tournament opening Saturday, July 18 in Walla Walla.
