Todd Beamer's boys basketball team staged an amazing comeback late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter Wednesday, only to see Mountlake Terrace wrest away a 69-59 win in the end.
The Class 3A state tournament loss at the Tacoma Dome marked the end of the road for the Titans this year.
Todd Beamer trailed by a 45-30 score with 2:57 remaining in the third quarter before going on an 18 point run.
Caleb Berry buried a 3-point shot to start the string at 2:38, and sank a pair of free throws 35 seconds later.
Will Tellis added a 3-point shot at 1:07, then drove inside for two with 31.7 seconds left to make it 45-40.
He missed an ensuing free throw, but Dominic Simpson rebounded it and put it back, also drawing a foul.
Simpson rebounded his own miss, leading to a free throw make by Terrence Whiting at 14.4 seconds to make it 45-43.
Simpson opened the final quarter with a basket to tie it, drawing a foul and making the free throw for a 46-45 lead with 7:46 remaining.
The Titans went up 48-45 before the Hawks took the lead to stay on a six-point run.
Simpson fouled out during the run.
Tellis led the Titans with 19 points while Berry added 15, Whiting 14 and Simpson five. Abdala Shaban, Ahmed Ismail and Josiah Davis hit two apiece.
Berry led with six rebounds.
