Keeping Track

Huskies hosting spring game

Federal Way graduate Alphonzo Tuputala and the University of Washington football team are involved in spring practices leading up to their 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 spring game.

Tuputala is a 6-foot, 2-inch and 240 pound returning senior linebacker.

He is joined on the team by redshirt freshman Caleb Presley, a Federal Way resident who went to Rainier Beach High School.

Presley is a 6-0, 177 cornerback.

Tickets are free for the spring game.

The Huskies open the regular season Saturday, Aug. 31 against Brogan DeAsis and the Weber State team.  DeAsis is the son of former Federal Way baseball and football player Milt DeAsis.

McDaniels averages 10.5 points

Federal Way graduate Jaden McDaniels averaged 10.5 points per game for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association this year.

McDaniels also averaged 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Jalen McDaniels with Raptors

Federal Way graduate Jalen McDaniels recorded an average of 3.4 points per game for the Toronto Raptors this year along with 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists.

Janson Junk 1-2 for Nashville

Decatur graduate Janson Junk has a 1-2 record so far this spring as a pitcher for the Nashville Sounds, the Class AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Junk has a 4.70 earned run average with 12 strikeouts and eight walks.  He has started in three of his four appearances.

Brigham on Twins' injured list

Thomas Jefferson graduate Jeff Brigham finds himself on the seven day injured list so far during the regular season for the Minnesota Twins organization.

Brigham finished the Twins' preseason with a 1-2 record and a 5.06 ERA with 12 strikeouts and eight walks in 10.2 innings pitched.

Hymer pitches for Morningside

Decatur graduate Mason Hymer is pitching for Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa.

Decatur fell into a third place tie in the NPSL's Class 4A division at 4-2 with the Chargers after Wednesday's defeat.

Seattle wraps up its current road trip with a 12:07 p.m. Wednesday visit to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Mariners come home to T-Mobile Park this weekend, playing the Chicago Cubs at 6:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 1:10 p.m. Sunday.

The Cincinnati Reds follow the Cubs into town for action at 6:42 p.m. Monday, 6:40 p.m. Tuesday and 1:10 p.m. Wednesday.
