Soundview reaches final

Soundview of Northeast Tacoma earned its way into the District 10 Little League all-star baseball championship for ages 9-11 with a victory over Chinook in Monday's winner's bracket final.

The team returns to the Federal Way National complex at 6 p.m. Wednesday to play the winner of Tuesday's loser's bracket final between Chinook and South Hill.

If Soundview loses an if-necessary championship game takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Federal Way National was bumped out of the tournament with a loss to Bonney Lake/Sumner this past Friday.

National was ousted from the age 8-10 softball tournament at the Real Life Church in Kent with a loser's bracket final loss to Auburn the same night 

Auburn went on to lose Monday's championship to Bonney Lake/Sumner.

The age 8-10 baseball tournament opened at the Sunset complex in Auburn on Monday with Federal Way National defeating Steel Lake and Soundview beating Auburn.

Steel Lake plays Kent in a loser's bracket game at 6 p.m. Tuesday with two winner's bracket semifinals taking place at 6 p.m. Wednesday with National playing South Hill and Soundview taking on Bonney Lake/Sumner.

National Majors fall to South Hill

Federal Way National came up short in its efforts to reach the District 10 Major Little League all-star baseball championship game Wednesday, taking a loss to South Hill of Puyallup in the loser's bracket final.

South Hill went on to take a championship loss to undefeated Bonney Lake/Sumner the next day, ending the tournament for ages 10-12 played at Auburn's Sunset complex.

Bonney Lake/Sumner also won the age 9-11 District 10 softball title that night with a victory over Chinook of Enumclaw at the Federal Way National complex.

Federal Way National, meanwhile, fell to Bonney Lake/Sumner in Thursday's winner's bracket final of the age 8-10 District 10 softball tournament being played at Real Life Church in Kent.

Bonney Lake/Sumner advances to Monday's 6 p.m. provisional championship needing to be defeated twice by the National vs. Auburn survivor.

Any if-necessary game would be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Soundview of Northeast Tacoma opened the age 9-11 baseball tournament with a win over host Federal Way National and advances to play Chinook in a 6 p.m. Monday winner's bracket final.

The provisional championship follows at 6 p.m. Wednesday with any if-necessary game at 6 p.m. Thursday.

National wins softball crown

Federal Way National captured the Major Little League softball District 10 all-star championship for ages 10-12 by defeating the Bonney Lake/Sumner team in Monday action.

National hosted the tournament at its own complex and will also host next month's state tournament.

Federal Way opens state with a 3 p.m. game Sunday, July 6 after receiving a first round bye.

State runs through Saturday, July 12 with the provisional championship starting at noon with any if-necessary second game scheduled to follow at 3 p.m.

National is also still in contention in the District 10 Major baseball tournament despite taking a loss to Bonney Lake/Sumner Tuesday.

National returns to the Sunset complex on Auburn's east hill for a 6 p.m. Wednesday loser's bracket final clash with the South Hill team from Puyallup.

The winner must defeat Bonney Lake/Sumner twice.  The provisional championship starts at 6 p.m. Thursday with any if-necessary second game at 6 p.m. Friday.

Soundview of Northeast Tacoma took the Junior baseball District 10 championship for ages 13-14 by beating Bonney Lake/Sumner in a Tuesday game at Pete's Pool in Enumclaw.

South Hill, meanwhile, took the Junior softball title with a win over Kent on Tuesday, June 17 and Chinook of Enumclaw won the Intermediate baseball crown with a win over South Hill Thursday, June 12.

National will be the site of the District 10 age 9-11 softball final at 6 p.m. this Wednesday between Bonney Lake/Sumner and Chinook.

The if-necessary game would be at 6 p.m. Thursday.

National plays Bonney Lake/Sumner in the winner's bracket final of the age 8-10 softball tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Real Life Church in Kent.

That tournament runs through the provisional championship at 6 p.m. Monday, June 30 or the if-necessary game at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 1.

Mount Vernon 3, Decatur 1

Decatur gave No. 1-seeded and host Mount Vernon a battle Saturday evening but took a season-ending state Class 3A quarterfinal loss.

The Gators came into the state regional action as the No. 8 seed.

Decatur 5, North Thurston 0

The Gators opened state regionals by blanking North Thurston of Lacey in an early afternoon game Saturday at Sherman Anderson Field in Mount Vernon.

Boys golf

State Class 3A

Andrew Lettice of Federal Way finished in a four-way tie for 41st place in the tournament played Tuesday and Wednesday at the Creek at Qualchan Golf Course in Spokane.

He shot an 80 the first day and a 79 the second for a two day total of 159.

Aiden Bao of Thomas Jefferson took 62nd in the same tournament with an 80 and an 86 for a total of 166.

Alex Ie of TJ qualified for state but missed the first day cut to reach the second with an 87.

Decatur's Hudson Goretski also missed with a 91.

Girls golf

State Class 3A

Adrianna Ie of Thomas Jefferson played in the girls tournament at nearby Indian Canyon but missed the first day cut with a round of 108.

Decatur 8, Kelso 1

Decatur apparently wasn't about to pass on a second chance to go to state Saturday, blasting Kelso in a District 3/4 Class 3A playoff at Auburn-Riverside High School.

The Gators go on to the regional level of state next Saturday while the Highlanders of Southwest Washington went home for the year.

Decatur travels to Sherman Anderson in Mount Vernon for a 1 p.m. regional opener against North Thurston.  The winner plays a 4 p.m. game for a state semifinal berth and the loser is out.

The Gators come in as the No. 8 state seed and the Rams of Lacey as the No. 9 state seed.

Enumclaw 7, Decatur 6

Decatur missed a chance to qualify early Saturday, losing a close one to the Hornets.

That game was also played at Auburn-Riverside.

Fastpitch softball

Peninsula 8, Decatur 3

The Gators' season ended with the Saturday morning loss at the Regional Athletic Center in Lacey.

Decatur 10, North Thurston 7

Decatur outslugged North Thurston on Thursday evening in its second game at the District 3/4 Class 3A tournament.

The Tides overwhelmed the Gators in a District 3/4 opener Thursday afternoon.

Federal Way took a season-ending loss at the same tournament Thursday evening.

The Gators will now have two chances to capture a state regional berth Saturday.

Their first opportunity comes in a 10 a.m. game against Enumclaw at Auburn-Riverside.

The winner advances to state regionals, while the loser gets a second chance in a 4 p.m. contest at Auburn-Riverside.

The Eagles shut out Silas in a road game Tuesday to advance to Wednesday's battle against Decatur.

Peninsula outlasted the Gators in a winner to state contest played Tuesday evening at Auburn.

Bellarmine blanked host Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday to end the Raiders' season.

The Eagles' season ended with Tuesday's loss to the Royals at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.

The winner plays for a state berth at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Auburn Memorial.

Decatur journeyed to Lacey for its opener Saturday and came away as a winner by shutout.

The Gators face an opponent to be determined at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Harry Lang with the winner playing the Federal Way vs. Kent-Meridian winner for a state berth at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Auburn Memorial.
